# The Clarry savings barrel: Craft instructions & idea

Instructions and tips

The physical savings barrel is just as important for kids as digital saving, because it makes money **tangible**. When kids actively put coins and notes into the savings barrel, they understand the value of money on an emotional and sensory level.

Together, physical and digital saving combine playful learning with modern financial skills – creating a lasting understanding of money from an early age.

With just a few materials, you can turn an empty chip can into a creative savings barrel in a wooden barrel look. This craft idea is especially great for kids and is ideally done with support from an adult.

### 🛠 Required materials

- Empty chip can with lid

- Brown construction paper or crafting cardboard

- Black paper

- Black felt-tip pen

- Glue and scissors

- Support from adults (for the money slot in the lid)

### ⏱ Time & difficulty level

- **Duration:** approx. 20–30 minutes

- **Difficulty:** easy

- **Age:** from approx. 6 years (with help from adults)

### 🔧 Important note

For safety reasons, the money slot in the lid should **only be made by adults** using a utility knife.
